TAARBÆK
KRO
Client: Taarbæk Kro ApS
Location: Taarbæk, Denmark
Completion Date: 2025
As part of the extensive renovation of the historic Taarbæk Kro, we were commissioned to design and build unique maritime-inspired outdoor furniture for the inn’s new rooftop terrace. The aim was to create pieces that would both reflect the site’s maritime identity and function as robust, long-lasting elements in the harsh coastal climate.
The design draws inspiration from Taarbæk’s rich history as a fishing village and harbour town. On the rooftop terrace, two boat-shaped benches with soft curves and details evoke the lines and movement of the sea. A mobile bar, inspired by the smokestacks of larger ships and designed to open up for serving, acts as a flexible gathering point for events.
The “Taarbæk Bench” – a table-and-bench set crafted from solid oak combined with painted mahogany – ties the pieces together in a cohesive maritime style.
The client requested oak as the primary material, and we combined its light, strong character with painted mahogany to create a look that is both robust, exclusive, and true to the maritime theme.
